Senior Zebras snub camp over bonuses

Senior national team players have once again snubbed a call-up insisting they are not returning until their bonuses from the last campaign are settled.

Zebras' coach Stanley Tshosane had called 25 players for the second camp of the year in preparation for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and 2014 World Cup qualifiers in June.  But Tshosane, who recently penned a new three-year contract, has had to do without all the players who took the country to its maiden AFCON finals. The players' main gripe is that local companies have made donations, but they are yet to be given any perks.

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) held talks with some of the players over the issue yesterday. According to Tshosane, captain Mompati Thuma, Mochudi Centre Chiefs' pair of Pontsho Moloi and Joel Mogorosi and Township Rollers' striker, Onalethatha Thekiso are some of the players who attended the meeting at the Lekidi Centre.
