SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Selebi-Phikwe Golf Club (SPGC) will host the Central Open tournament this weekend with 60 players expected to do battle in the two-day event.

Puma Energy sponsors the annual tournament with P20,000. SPGC spokesperson, Palalani Moithobogi, explained that points acquired in the tournament will be considered when the national team is picked.

"Some of the players that we expect to cause an upset during the tournament are youngsters, Leroy Pearmain and Onalenna Chinga. The two performed well last weekend during the SPGC championship. Pearmain lost by one shot to a senior golfer and Chinga won the B Division. This shows our seriousness in developing young golfers," said Moithobogi.
