Botswana Football Association (BFA) president Tebogo Sebego jetted off to Rabat, Morocco, yesterday for the 2013 Confederation of African Football (CAF) congress to elect new leaders.

Sebego will join other football leaders at the annual CAF assembly. "The important item (at this year's congress) is the election," said Sebego on Wednesday. The presidential election is set for Sunday with the coast clear for incumbent CAF president Issa Hayatou of Cameroon to retain the top post after the Court of
Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed the appeal filed by Jacques Anouma against his candidacy for the CAF presidency.

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) had proposed the candidature of Anouma for the presidential election, a nomination, which was declared inadmissible by the CAF executive committee. For the first time since the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals held in South Africa, the congress will not be linked to the tournament. CAF first deputy president Suketu Patel recently said after it became clear Libya would not be able to host the tournament; Morocco approached CAF saying they wanted to host the congress. South Africa Football Association (SAFA) was informed during the 2012 AFCON finals in Equatorial Guinea that the 2013 congress would not be linked to the tournament.
