Santos confirm Chiefs' trophy-less season

Mochudi Centre Chiefs' season which at one point promised to deliver a double for the second year on the trot ended in agony on Sunday when they lost 3-2 to youthful Uniao Flamengo Santos in the Coca-Cola Cup semi-final.

The former league and Coke Cup champions were regarded as favourites to retain both titles. But high-spending Magosi will now finish the season trophy-less after they surrendered the league title to Gaborone United (GU) and getting tossed out of the Coke Cup by Santos in a space of one week.

After the last-day Premier League heartbreak, Chiefs' supporters had pinned their hopes on the Coke Cup but Santos were always going to be a tough side. The Gabane side lost 5-2 to Chiefs in last year's final and on Sunday, it was time for revenge.
