SA based stars to miss Sweden tie

National team coach Stanley Tshosane will have to do without his foreign-based players when he leads his charges against Sweden in a high profile friendly match set for Cape Town, South Africa next Wednesday.

The tie against the Scandinavian opponents is Zebras' first of the year and will kick-start the national team's preparations for the last lap of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Zebras sit comfortably at the top of Group K and Tshosane has made it clear that he wants to finish the campaign on a high note. Their next game is against Chad in March.

In an interview yesterday, Tshosane confirmed he was going to use local-based players for the game. "We will not call South Africa-based players for the game against Sweden. Remember February 9 is an (FIFA) international friendly date so we will only call them for a game that we intend to play on that day," Tshosane said.
