Botho Ryders rugby club has clinched sponsorship deals with Spar Botswana, Knight Frank and Simikit. The sponsorships were launched last week at Botho University. It includes playing kits for both men and women’s teams as well as training equipment.

Speaking to Monitor Sport at the launch, Ryders chairperson, Simon Kanaimba said they have been struggling to secure sponsorship for many years and lost some players to other teams. He said the sponsorship comes at a time when the club was struggling to attract players.

“We have been going through a rough patch. We lost many players last season due to that. We had to be creative and approached companies to buy spaces on our playing jerseys. The spaces differed in prices with the front space being the most priced,” he said. Kanaimba said Spar has promised to also assist the club with warm up jerseys.
