Rollers to sack Nare?

The future of Township Rollers' co-coach Daniel 'Chicco' Nare is said to be hanging in the balance. This comes after Rollers lost 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out to national champions ECCO City Greens in the Coca-Cola Cup quarterfinal in Lobatse Stadium last weekend.

After the game, some supporters expressed dissatisfaction about the current coaching arrangement at the club. They demanded that the management should look for another coach and accused Nare of failing to read the game. It is said that the Rollers' management is under pressure to release Nare because of his unhealthy relationship with Nigerian Okuchukwu Onyewadume who was brought in as technical director. With Nare leaving for Cologne, Germany to attend a coaching course from September 1-29, it is reported that the Rollers' management think it would be appropriate to get a new coach for the new season. Once again, the name of Under-23 tactician David Bright has come up as possible replacement.

Nare told Mmegi Sport yesterday that he was not aware of plans to kick him out. "I met the management this week and we talked about different issues and we never discussed my future. All I know is that I'll be leaving for Germany and when I come back, I return to Rollers," he said. He admitted that coaching is a very unsafe job and anything can happen. "Honestly, my record at Rollers is good and I've managed to bring in some quality players. At the moment, I'm working on combinations and once the team gels, we'll be unstoppable," he told Mmegi Sport. He said his relationship with Onyewadume is professional.
