Rollers outsmart TAFIC

FRANCISTOWN: Township Rollers finally beat TAFIC last Saturday to avoid what would have been a third consecutive draw between the two sides in the be MOBILE Premier League.

Last season the two popular sides drew 2-2 in the first round and 1-1 in the second round. Perhaps, this could be the reason why the game ended up with the highest goals in the league so far - seven. It was TAFIC which took the war to the visitors from the onset when they attacked with such gusto it appeared they had put their act together.

Dreadlocked Simbarashe Mawere on the left and the stocky Wellington Sibanda on the right gave Rollers' defence a torrid time. In the first minute, Mawere was brought down midway to the penalty box from the centre and from the resultant free kick, he hit a low curving shot, which Kabelo Dambe in Rollers' goal easily handled. Ten minutes later, TAFIC were at it again with Sibanda in the thick of things. After receiving a pass from midfield, he lobbed a dangerous cross but Tamocha Bedi failed to connect to the chagrin of TAFIC supporters.
