Rollers' new Zambian coach aims high

The new Township Rollers' Zambian coach Dickson Ngwenya says he will not be intimidated by the club's huge following because he is used to coaching in a hostile environment.

On a typical day, the attendance at the Rollers' training grounds surpasses that of most institutional teams' league games.

Ngwenya started sharpening the Rollers watched by a huge crowd of the team's ardent supporters this week. But it remains to be seen whether the Zambian mentor will withstand the pressure. "I have done it before; I am used to coaching big teams with a large following. I know there is so much pressure but one should always be focused and rational in such an environment," said the new coach. Ngwenya said he has been impressed by the players he has found at the club. "I am pleased with the attitude of the players, they are well behaved and hard working," he said. Ngwenya watched Rollers' league game against Police XI on Friday when he arrived from Lusaka. Like every new coach, Ngwenya's wish is to do well so the club takes top position at the end of the season. As far as he is concerned, the title race is still wide open.
