The game was played under chilly conditions at the Molepolole Sports Stadium. Zikhale ran onto midfielder Farasai Nyamumamwendo's brilliant pass and calmly put the ball past the oncoming Rollers' goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe in the 16th minute. It was Santos' first attack of the game. With Santos' hotshot, Mogakolodi 'Tsotso' Ngele away in China on national duty, perhaps Rollers thought the youthful Gabane side will pose no threat.
Santos competed well and absorbed pressure from a rampant Mapalastina who launched raids with ease. But striker Godfrey Ngele, Gofaone Tiro, Zikhale and Nyamumamwendo were outstanding for Santos. Credit has to go to Santos' left-back Bokamoso Digwere who had a blinder of a game against his former team. Rollers could have won the game in the first if they were composed in front of goal. Strikers Aubrey Kebonnetse and Terrence Mandaza failed to complement each other and this made things easier for the Santos' rearguard. Even the substitutes Phenyo Molefe and Onalethata Tshekiso failed to come to the party in the second half. Mapalastina did not take advantage of Ola Tsae's suspect goalkeeping. Tsae was signed from First Division side Mochudi Buffaloes during the recent transfer window. He was lucky not to have been punished by Rollers' attackers after he fumbled a cross from the right in the 88th minute.
