Rollers Hold Platinum Stars

Just a week after beating Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1, Township Rollers gave another brilliant display to hold another South African Premier League team, Platinum Stars to a 1-1 draw in a friendly encounter played at the National Stadium on Friday night.

After a poor start to the season, Rollers seems to be one of the teams to watch in the second round. The arrival of Zambian coach Dickson Ngwenya appears to be all that Mapalastina had been waiting for. Though less than a month at Rollers, Ngwenya's knowledge of his players' abilities is simply amazing. His tactical approach is also working wonders.

For the two friendly games, against Celtic and Platinum Stars, the Rollers looked sharp and determined. The return of speedy winger Joel Mogorosi, who had been playing in Cyprus, has also boosted the team's attacking options. Mogorosi together with Amos Godirwang have given Rollers a new dimension. Ngwenya has admitted that the most important aspect of the game is to score goals - and it was not surprising when Platinum Stars' goalkeeper, Wayne Sandilands parried Bernard Semakwezi's glancing header for a corner in the eighth minute.
