Rollers haunted by bonus issue again

For the second year running, Township Rollers' players might not share in the riches reaped from successfully defending the be MOBILE Premier League title.

"I'm not going to be rude or defensive. I am going to get straight to the point. In the Employment Act, there is nothing called bonus. It comes from your employer's goodwill if there is a surplus. So it is not the right of any employee. As you may know, we don't have players who are playing for Rollers for free. They are all employed," the cluab's public relations officer, Kaizer Sekaba, has said. He stated that bonuses are given at the prerogative of the employer and nobody can go to court if he does not get it. He was quick to say that he was not suggesting that Rollers' players will not get bonuses.

"All I am saying is that you cannot take somebody to court over bonuses. You can only take them to court when they owe you your salary... There is that possibility (that bonuses will be given) but nobody can demand that. That is why it is called a bonus," said Sekaba.
