The fate of the three Ethiopian players who absconded after their club played Notwane in a Confederation of African Football (CAF) game will be determined soon when their case comes before the Refugee Advisory Committee. The players are currently at the Detention Centre for Illegal Immigrants in Francistown.

The Under-Secretary for Political Affairs in the Office of President, Ross Sanoto told Mmegi Sport that the three players are seeking political asylum.

Sanoto could not reveal whether the three players were also soldiers since they were playing for an army team. He said they are still waiting to be interviewed by the Refugee Advisory Committee, which is expected to meet soon. Sanoto said the committee would make a decision whether the players should be granted political asylum or not.
