Referees boycott thwart end of First Division League

The last games in the First Division South could not be played on Saturday after referees staged a boycott over pay.

Clubs were only informed at the last minute that the match officials would not be pitching-up. The referees reportedly boycotted the games because  they had not been paid for officiating in the Coca-Cola Cup.

Chairman of the First Division South League committee, Tariq Babitseng told Sport Monitor that he only learnt of the unavailability of the match officials at 3pm - a mere 30 minutes before kick-off. He was speaking at Mochudi Buffaloes' Ground where the home team was scheduled for a titanic title decider against Mogoditshane Fighters.
