Referee Malepa At It Again

Controversial referee Israel Malepa was at it again. On Saturday, the youthful referee just spoiled his good work of 80 minutes as he made some dubious decision in the last 10 minutes of a game between Gaborone United and Tafic at the UB Stadium.

Malepa had just let the entertaining game flow but with 10 minutes remaining, he started flashing cards at TAFIC players, first sending off captain Osenyeng Tsenang before awarding a controversial penalty and sending off another TAFIC player.

Although he was right in sending off Tsenang, Malepa missed it in the 84th minute when he awarded Gaborone United a penalty after he had misjudged a TAFIC player to have handled the ball inside the box. The defender could not believe his eyes when after clearing a dangerous goal bond shot with a diving header found the referee pointing at the spot for a penalty. The two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 when Malepa made the controversial ruling.
