'Rasta' Not To Blame For Fighters' Relegation - Mgadla

Former Mogoditshane Fighters winger, Mandla Mgadla has defended his ex-coach Letang 'Rasta' Kgengwenyane saying he was not responsible for the club's fall from the be MOBILE Premier League.

Mgadla who recently transferred to champions Gaborone United said Kgengwenyane is among the best coaches he has worked with. "He is a good motivator and understands tactics very well. He did his best to save the team under trying circumstances and he was just unlucky not to succeed. Rasta always remains positive even when things are bad and this made all the players feel motivated," Mgadla said. He added that Fighters were relegated because management did not give the coach and the players enough support. "When players are not happy there is nothing much a coach can do. Even if you brought Ferguson (Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson) he would not make a team of demoralised players win. It is important to make sure that the players are happy then they would produce. But this does not mean that we deliberately lost games as a protest against management. We tried hard despite the situation. But remember the team is made of different characters and while some might be strong enough to soldier on, others crack easily," he said.

Mgadla believes the team had players who were good enough to compete at the highest level but the problems at the club rendered them ineffective. He said that under good conditions, the same players could have even challenged for the league championship.
