Puma energy golf tourney tees off

One of the premier Botswana Golf Union (BGU) tournaments, the Annual Puma Energy Botswana Closed Golf Championship takes place on February 25-26 at the Orapa Golf Club.

This tournament will be divided into two categories, these being A Division (Handicap 0 - 9), and B Division (Handicap 10-18) and played over 36 holes. Over 60 golfers, the majority from Orapa, will be participating.The BGU is pleased to announce that, this tournament has received a sponsorship of P20, 000 from Puma Energy Botswana. Puma Energy Botswana will be given naming rights for the tournament and it shall be called Puma Energy Botswana Closed. Puma Energy Botswana also sponsor the Jwaneng and the Central Open championships played in Jwaneng and Selebi-Phikwe respectively.

"We believe that this partnership will go a long way in improving the quality of the game of golf in Botswana and also in enhancing the corporate aspirations of Puma Energy Botswana.This tournament is the first competitive event on the BGU 2012 calendar and therefore serves as an important match practice opportunity for the senior national team and the junior national team in readiness for their international assignments being the Zone VI Championships in Malawi and the All Africa Junior Championships in Botswana respectively", says BGU secretary general, Mpho Kelosiwang.
