Prolonged off-season poses financial challenges for clubs

Be MOBILE Premier League clubs face a challenging four months due to the prolonged off-season between April and August 2010.

Most clubs rely on gate takings and the period of inactivity means no income while players and other expenses have to be paid.

The 2009-2010 season will end early owing to the World Cup which would be hosted in South Africa between June 11 and July 11 2010. The Premier League Committee (PLC) acting general manager, Phuthego Setete conceded that it will be a challenge for clubs to survive during the long off-season.
