Prisons XI jam Rollers

Township Rollers' assistant coach Daniel 'Chicco' Nare has admitted that his side performed below par in their embarrassing 2-0 defeat to struggling Prisons XI in the Mascom Premier League encounter at the Molepolole Sports Complex on Sunday.

After their two high-profile wins against Gaborone United and BDF XI, Rollers were favoured to send the prisons warders to the cleaners, but it was never to be as Prisons XI put up their fancied opponents under siege. On the day, Rollers were reduced to nothing as they huffed and puffed, something which did not go down well with their supporters who came in large numbers hoping for something better. Even a school team could have matched Rollers on the day. The absence of defenders Kgomari Mothuba, Gabriel Bokhutlo and central midfielder Lesego Molemogi, who have been regulars for Mapalastina for most part of this season, worsened Rollers' situation. The defeat has left Rollers sitting on the eighth spot with 39 points from 28 games while Prisons XI are lying on the 15th position with 21 points from 27 games.

In an interview with Mmegi Sport, Nare lamented their dismal performance, saying they will have to do much better in their two remaining games against Jwaneng Comets and Lobtrans Gunners. "We couldn't apply ourselves well and we'll have to go back to the drawing board and plan for our game against Comets. But we should give credit to Prisons XI because they played well and were first on the ball," he told Mmegi Sport. He said that after an awful performance in the opening half, they only settled down in the second half. Nare also said that the absence of Mothuba, Bokhutlo and Molemogi threw their planning into disarray, as the trio had been influential in their revival.
