Prisons end crystals' season

Dazzling Prisons effectively ended UB Crystals' season when they beat them 30-26 in a tightly-contested Spar Netball League encounter on Saturday morning. Going into the tie, the two clubs had both amassed eight points each although Prisons had two games in hand.

The result meant Prisons moved into fourth place with 10 points, ending Crystals' hopes of a place in the top eight.Southern Zone teams are now fighting for berths in the top four to be part of the final that will pit them against four top teams from Northern Zone League.   But on Saturday, Crystals who welcomed back their captain, Dosto Sakaiwa, went down fighting.The determined Prisons needed some last minute scores to wrap up their win.Prisons did not look like the team that went down 63-16 at the hands of log leaders BDF Cats the previous weekend.

The entire game was a balanced affair with scores staying close throughout the game.Prisons went to half-time leading 11-10 after an intriguing two quarters. The third quarter was no different, as it was a see-saw affair. They finished the quarter level at 17-17. And after an improved third quarter performance, the more experienced Crystals looked to have a chance to wrap it up, but that was not to be.Prisons' coach, Regent Mosimanewapula made an interesting switch at the start of the fourth quarter, moving outstanding GA Kemonye Nakedi to WA, which was played by Natasha Maribe in the first three quarters.The move seemingly paid off as they started off the final quarter on a high and consistently bagged goals, keeping an average margin of three throughout the quarter.
