Preparations for athletics meet receive boost

Preparations for the Africa Junior Athletics Championships received a huge boost following news that the National Stadium will be available and prospects of having Samsung and Adidas on board as sponsors.

Botswana will host the prestigious athletics meet from May 12-15 in Gaborone and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) is upbeat that preparations are on course.

There were worries towards the end of last year that the National Stadium may not be ready to host track and field events but a Belgian expert, Eddie Vannuytven, was in the country in December and assured the LOC that the facilities meet the standards. Vannuytven is managing director of Time Tronics, a sports-timing company.
