The Botswana Premier League (BPL) has moved swiftly to investigate the circumstances that led to the cancellation of two Premier League games last weekend.

A statement from the league's governing body says that BPL chief prosecutor, Tshiamo Rantao has been appointed as an investigator and will perform the duty at no cost to BPL. "We believe that Rantao has a reputation for probity and impartiality and will be able to accomplish his mandate without fear or favour," a statement from BPL chief executive officer, Bennet Mamelodi reads. Rantao has commenced his work immediately and oral evidence has been scheduled for May 16 and 17. He will submit the report to BPL chairman, Mokganedi Molefe on May 18.

The games between Township and TAFIC as well as Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Nico United were called off on Saturday following a fixture mix up. Three sides, Rollers, Chiefs and TAFIC all pitchd up at the UB Stadium. Nico United on the other hand was waiting at the SSKB Stadium. Chiefs, Rollers and TAFIC all claim they have correspondences stating that their games were to be played at the UB Stadium. During an interview with Mmegi Sport on Saturday, Mamelodi said the findings of the investigations on the matter will be made public.
