Eight Premier League clubs will take part in the be MOBILE five-a-side football tournament at the Gaborone consumer fair next weekend.

Police XI, Uniao Flamengo Santos, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Township Rollers, Gaborone United, BDF XI, Notwane and Extension Gunners have been selected to vie for the P10,000 top prize in the four-day football feast. The runners-up will get P5,000 while third and fourth place finishers will pocket P2,000 and P1,500 respectively.

The tournament is part of the contractual obligations of be MOBILE's sponsorship of the Premier League. Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) marketing and communications manager, Anno Tshipa explained that her company under its cellular network wing, be MOBILE, want to use the five-a-side tournament to get the players closer to supporters. She explained that the tournament is not meant to benefit the clubs financially though it is in the sponsorship contract. "In agreement with the Premier League Committee (PLC) there is a provision for us at be MOBILE to be given the chance to use the players for promotional purposes. While we see this tournament as a chance to get football and the clubs closer to fans, we have to emphasise that we want to use it to grow our brand," Tshipa said.
