Powell wrangle goes to players' body

The Premier League Committee (PLC) has said it has referred the dispute over the transfer of midfielder, Abednico Powell from Extension Gunners to Gaborone United (GU) to the Players' Status Committee. PLC acting general manager, Setete Phuthego confirmed that the matter has been referred to the Players' Status Committee for determination.

Gunners have apparently transferred Powell to GU but the player does not want to play ball. It is said Powell changed his mind about the transfer after the two clubs had signed a deal and his blue book was transferred to GU. Reports say the player was influenced by a mouth-watering offer from his former club, ECCO City Greens.

GU secretary, Kagiso Sebele insists that Powell is their player. He said that initially, they approached the player and agreed on personal terms. Powell then gave GU the go ahead to negotiate with Gunners. But Sebele says they are surprised that after the deal was concluded, the player claims that he was not consulted about the transfer. The GU official said the player claimed that they had not agreed terms.
