Poor start for softball Under-19

Botswanas national Under-19 team started the 10th Junior Womens World Championship badly as they lost 11-1 to Brazil on Monday.

They are part of the junior championships in Brampton, a 15-minute drive from Toronto, Canada.The competition involving 16 nations started on Monday and ends on Saturday.Botswana, Africa’s only representative at the tournament, play two games today against the Netherlands and Japan hoping to get their campaign back on track.

Their final preliminary matches will be against Australia and Mexico will be played tomorrow (Thursday).Botswana first competed at the junior championships in 2007 in Holland and then Cape Town, South Africa, in 2011 was their second appearance. The results have not been so good in past appearances after the country finished 15th and 16th respectively.  All 73 games are being web-streamed.
