Police IX delivered a vibrant bottom five-innings display to whack Vikings 4-1 in a dull Shell Women's Softball League match played at the National Diamond in Gaborone on Saturday afternoon.

There was little to write home about from both sides in the opening four innings.Vikings started off batting and Keneilwe Molosiwa, Ntsuna Moganiwa and Mapula Gwang were all out in a space of two minutes. In fact, they finished the inning without gaining a single base. When it was Police's turn to bat, they also had little to offer to the paltry crowd that came to watch the match.

Vikings were pathetic again in the top two innings while an unconvincing Police broke the deadlock in the bottom two innings. They scored their first run through Lebogang Mooki after she hit a low ball that eluded Vikings' players and ran all the way to third base. She then stole a base after a clever bunt by Otsile Moshabe.Thereafter, the following two innings were uneventful as both sides struggled to make any significant progress. Police only turned up the heat in the bottom five innings, amassing three runs to take the game beyond their opponents' reach. They had three consecutive base hits, which earned them three points.
