Players deny engineering Naughty Boys' downfall

Naughty Boys' turbulent season culminated in relegation from the First Division last week after a 7-1 humiliation by Jwaneng Comets.

The heavy loss has resulted into finger-pointing at the club as its heads to the regional league. There are accusations that two senior players, Mooketsi Mogale and Tendai 'Makota' Mutare, engineered the club's departure from the First Division.

There has been talk that the two players defied Naughty Boys' tradition of using traditional medicine. In addition, they are alleged to have confiscated playing kits after a match. But captain Mutare has denied all the charges and wondered why some fans believe he could sabotage his own team. "I tried everything in my power to save the team but I failed. I know it was the same with Moks (Mooketsi). He never wanted to see the team relegate. In fact, when the season started, we all wanted to return to the Premier League, and we believed we were going to achieve this but there are certain things which went against us and there is no need to discuss them now," Mutare told Mmegi Sport.
