Phikwe clubs in inaugural challenge cup

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Four soccer clubs will battle out in the inaugural Makaba Challenge Cup scheduled for the Selebi-Phikwe Council Stadium this Sunday. The one-day P10,000 soccer tournament is meant to raise funds for the clubs.

The event will feature Premier League side, Nico United, First Division North campaigners, Satmos and two lower division teams, Gustan United and No Mathatha.

 BCL security superintendent, Noah Makaba is the brains behind the tournament, which is set to become an annual event. Hydraulic Engineering and Repair Services, a South African company contracted to BCL, is the main sponsor. Makaba said he negotiated with Hydraulic Engineering to sponsor the tournament.  "I felt that we should have something for Selebi-Phikwe. I did this out of the love of the game," Makaba said.
