Paralympics Association of Botswana, PASSOBO, has suspended its secretary general, Tendani Magazine, after it was convinced that her comments were meant to malign people with disabilities.

Magazine was investigated after allegations that she made unsavoury comments in a text message exchange with an athlete with disability. PASSOBO president Thuso Rasetapa has confirmed Magazine's suspension saying the general assembly would decide her fate in the annual general meeting (AGM) next month. Rasetapa also confirmed that Magazine did not deny uttering offending words to an athlete but pleaded for forgiveness saying she acted out of anger. In the text exchange Magazine told the athlete that she should leave her alone as she did not cause her disability.

"Ke amogela 15 thou (sand) ka kgwedi KO tirong yame, PASSOBO cannot afford me. Ke ya go tswa mo PASSOBO nako e ke e batlang eseng lona le nkoba. Get a life, ga se nna ke lo dirileng digole. Ga ke lo batle mo PASSOBO, Ur are useless (I earn 15 thou (sand) where I work, PASSOBO cannot afford me. I will leave PASSOBO when I want; you are not going to push me. Get a life. I did not cause your disability. I do not need you in PASSOBO, Ur are useless," wrote Magazine who is a nurse and a rehabilitation officer by profession. This is the text message that is said to have landed her in hot soup. Some executive committee members have always accused Magazine of being a bully who ran the association single-handedly. Rasetapa did not want to directly confirm that but said they have always had many problems before with her. He said they even pleaded with Botswana National Sport Council to help them but BNSC told them to explore ways in which they could resolve their differences with her.
