Paper Club Softball Club will host a competition over the weekend to thank clubs that took part in the Martin Sass tournament held in Jwaneng in May.

The competition will have both men and women categories. Paper Club will award certificates of appreciation to all the companies and individuals that sponsored the Sass tournament. The weekend event is scheduled for the National Diamond and Vikings field. The clubs that are to take part are Paper Club, Vikings, Police IX, Wells, Dinare and Bears.

The Martin Sass tournament started in South Africa but was held for the first time in Botswana this year. It is held in memory of Martin Sass - the first black person to form a softball association in South Africa at a time when the sport was only associated with whites. Harambe Ntsowe of Paper Club said they hosted the Sass tournament because they understand it better after taking part several times in South Africa. He said his club won the tournament more than six times in South Africa. Ntsowe said the tournament that was in Jwaneng in Botswana was a success.
