Over 150 turn up for hayashi ha

Over 150 youngsters amongst them karatekas from Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa turned up for the Hayashi Ha Karate Open held at Boipuso Hall on Saturday.

The event sponsored by Mascom, Western Union, ITI, Electrical Component also had the elite section, where victorious participants walked away with P1, 000 cash.

Winners of the cash prizes included K.Molefhe who defeated Ofentse Bakwadi in a fight, while Bakwadi would also win the P1, 000 in the  demonstration category. In the girls' category, still in the elite category, A. Malunga, and Goitseone won themselves the cash in the 55kg and 61kg fights respectively, while Pearl Ranna, and K. Thato, also in the girls, won the P1, 000 cash in the demonstrations in the 61 and 50kg in that order. One of the best performers on the day was young Mohammed Khan who won in the kata and kumite sections in the 6-7-year age bracket. The event was open to karatekas  of 4-18 years, according to Hayashi Ha spokesman Raymond Matsake.
