Former Olympian Oteng Oteng stands to win the coveted boxer of the year title for the third consecutive year at the annual Debswana Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) awards scheduled for Saturday evening.

Oteng is nominated alongside teammate Mooketsi Lekgetho of UB boxing club and Tirafalo Seoko of BMC. A big plus for Oteng is that he emerged the only boxer to qualify for the 2012 London Olympic games surpassing any other local boxer's performance at the Olympic qualifiers held in Morocco. Oteng was controversially knocked out in his first bout of the preliminary stage after it looked like he overpowered his opponent throughout the bout.

He then chose to take a short break from local competitions for the rest of last year missing out on the national championship. He however, went on to prove he is still a world-beater by winning gold at the highly acclaimed Serbian invitational tournament in December.
