Oris claims city players shun Jwaneng

Newly-appointed Jwaneng Comets coach, Oris 'Boyo' Radipotsane is baffled that players shun the well-financed Jwaneng side to lead less luxurious lives playing for Gaborone sides. He says Comets offer vastly superior packages and lucrative employment opportunities but still players prefer Gaborone clubs that pay them P600 a month just because they love the city life. Radipotsane said his attempts to entice stars such as Mara Moloi of Mochudi Centre Chiefs have hit a snag.

"We offer them opportunities for employment, and we also pay our players far much better than other clubs but I just can't understand why these players are snubbing us," he said.

As a result of this problem, Comets is relying on home-grown talent and this means most of the players are inexperienced youngsters that only tasted Premiership football this season when the club returned from the First Division. Of all the players who played for Comets before they were demoted to the lower division two seasons ago, only goalkeeper Emmanuel Bentu is still at the club. Comets have lately announced the capture of Extension Gunners duo of Mogorosi Ross Motswagae, and Jabu Kagiso Moselakgoko, Jwaneng Blue Diamonds' youngster, Omphile Madala and former Gaborone United Zambian midfielder, Kennedy Mulundu. Madala has been likened to former international midfield star Masego Nchingane. He has the height, and he battles courageously to win the ball. He is impressive with his forward runs and has the potential to be a very useful defensive midfielder for both Comets and the national team.
