BEIJING: The mastermind of the most spectacular Olympic Games opening ceremony has regretted the injuries sustained by some of the actors who participated in the event.

Famous film director, Zhang Yomou, told journalists that it was no easy task organising what has been billed as the best ever Olympic Games opening ceremony. He said  it was not an easy task to organise the event on Friday night at the National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest. Yomou told journalists that he feels proud of his team but regrets the injuries as he feels he should have done something to avoid them. "I feel that if I had given enough instructions, these (injuries) would have been avoided," he said. He however said that in terms of multi-media, they did their best. He added that it will be difficult for the 2018 Olympics host, England to do better than them. He stated that he has hopes that England will have a beautiful opening and closing ceremonies. "I feel tired and need some rest but because I want to do even more in the closing ceremony and the closing ceremonies for the Paralympics games, I will not," he said.

On Friday night, the mood in the city was a different one altogether and it was clear that the day was an important one for the residents.
