Olebile wins at inaugural F'town Chess tourney

FRANCISTOWN: Thato Olebile walked away with a P500 cash prize, trophy and medal after winning the inaugural Sphauneh Chess Masters Open chess tournament held at the Institute of Health Sciences in Francistown over the weekend.

The spokesperson for the organisers, Motisi Otisitswe, said the tournament which saw 56 participants (43 men and 13 females) competing, was organised in an effort to raise funds for the Sphauneh Chess Club to buy their own equipment.

Detailing the need for its own equipment, Otisitswe saud; "in most cases they (the clubs) depend on borrowing from individuals who in turn would want to have their property back- ones a tournament like this one is over," said Otisitswe.
