Official Explains Prisons XI Failure

Prisons XI have failed to return to the Premier League for the second time in a row because of a punchless strike-force, a club official has said.

Team manager, Jacob Tonoki said the club was targeting promotion but was let down by a blunt forward-line missing two key strikers. He explained that injuries to Tatenda Mbikiwa and the absence of Carecca Tibone due to work commitments put paid to the team's bid to gain promotion.

"Our problem was in the strike-force because of the absence of the two strikers. Overall, the team was not doing badly," said Tonoki. In the absence of the two top strikers, the Warders relied on Moses Magwaneng to deliver the goods. Tonoki said they lost the battle for promotion towards the end of the league. They lost 3-2 to Wonder Sporting, 2-1 to Eastern Tigers and drew 1-1 with Jwaneng Comets to finish fourth. Tonoki said failure to get maximum points from the three games cost them dearly as they failed to even finish second and qualify for the promotion play-offs like last year. "These were the games that we did not expect to lose," he said.
