Notwane pursues Dirang's case

Be MOBILE Premier League side, Notwane is still pursuing its appeal against the decision of the Players Status Committee to declare its former star, Dirang Moloi, a free agent.

The midfield dynamo has joined Mochudi Centre Chiefs following the committee's decision. In an earlier decision, the National Appeals Board (NAB) ordered that the Players' Status Committee should hear the matter again and call both parties for a hearing. Notwane contend that they were never called for a hearing. Instead, they were asked to make written submissions. However, the Players Status Committee ruled that its decision was final and they are not going to preside over the case again.

Notwane now intends to fight to the bitter end. The club's spokesman, Andrew Mokgatlhane confirmed that they are still pursuing the appeal. He revealed that they once held a preliminary meeting with the Botswana Football Association (BFA) and the appeal board. The meeting discussed procedural issues.  The Notwane official said this was just like a pre- trial conference. He said the board recommended that they should go and discuss preliminary issues and decide whether they wanted to proceed with the appeal.  "We met as the management and decided that we are proceeding with the case.  We are waiting for the appeal board to advise us on the date of the hearing," said the official. Mokgatlhane said they do not want to block the player's movement but they are interested in ensuring that the right procedures are followed. They feel that Moloi should not have been registered with any club because the matter was still pending before the appeal board.  "He should not have been registered because it is prejudicing our case. Our contention is that the player belongs to us," he said.
