Notwane and Gaborone United (GU) played to a goalless draw in an exciting Mascom Premier League game on Wednesday. It was a fair result for both sides as they had almost equal chances to win the game.

The draw takes GU to second position with 10 points, one behind leaders, Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Notwane remain 10th with six points. Langson Sichola came close to scoring for Notwane striker in the 20th minute when his long-range drive missed the target by a whisker. The striker was a constant threat to the GU defence but he was let down by poor finishing. GU's goalkeeper Kgosietsile Senjoba performed acrobatics in the 41st minute to stop Mpoeleng Mpoeleng's long-range effort. A minute later, GU had their chance to score but striker Sageby Sandaka, who was deployed in the midfield in the absence of the injured Tshepo 'Schoolboy' Molefe, narrowly shot wide.

In the second half, both teams continued to display exciting attacking football. Barcos Mosimanegape cleared from the line with a header after Sandaka's chip caught Notwane goalkeeper, Mompoloki Sephekolo out of position in the 64th minute. At the other end, Senjoba once again had to make a brilliant save to deny Sichola, who made a brilliant turn to unleash a thunderbolt in the last minute. GU assistant coach Marco Tshuma told Mmegi Sport that he was happy that they performed well. "We were not lethal in front of goal but as you know, the local derby is not easy," he said. With GU missing two enterprising midfielders, Molefe and Itayi Gwandu through injury, Tshuma said that it was a challenge for the substitutes to prove that they are equally gifted. He added that he was impressed by the performance of those who came in for Gwandu and Molefe.
