Nico thump troubled TASC

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Nico United continued their push for a top four finish when they thumped visiting TASC 4-2 on Wednesday night, with prolific goal- getter, Master Masitara grabbing a hat- trick.

Masitara now has the chance to finish as the leading goal-scorer when his team takes on Extension Gunners tomorrow. The Nico forward took his tally to 18 goals and is now tied with Mochudi Centre Chiefs' deadly marksman Jerome 'JJ' Ramatlhakwana going into the last games of the season. Chiefs take on TAFIC  at the UB Stadium and it would not be easy for both strikers in their respective games as they come up against formidable defences.

On Wednesday night, Masitara opened the scoring in the first minute when he latched onto a long pass, and rounded a defender before driving a low shot past TASC goalkeeper Bugalo Gunda. Masitara almost doubled Nico's lead in the 18th minute when he ran clear but fumbled with only Gunda to beat. Nico dominated the first half and went 2-0 up in the 25th minute when Thobo 'Fish' Kgoboge finished off a Masitara pass. The TASC players protested furiously as the near side assistant referee had raised his flag for offside, but referee Joshua Bondo allowed the goal to stand.
