The financial struggles at Nico United have seen the club lose nearly half of its squad, after 12 players left.

The Selebi-Phikwe side recently lost the BCL Mine support as the copper and nickel miner battles depressed metal prices.

With the league prize money and grants not yet released, the club has felt the pinch further. “We have lost a lot of players.  Our striker, Christopher Musonda has joined (Jwaneng) Galaxy and others have left. We are left with 13 players, but we are busy recruiting and I am confident we will compete. All is not lost,” an optimistic Nico United chairperson, Mothusi Taolo said.
