New Zebras supporters' cabinet aims high

Just days after assuming office, the new Zebras Supporters' Club committee (Gaborone Branch), has already thrashed out a road map to help the national squad move to the next level.

Committee chairperson Moses Nageng said that after their first meeting on Tuesday, they realised that the Zebras support base has diminished, which is worrying. "The committee is determined to reinforce the existing tradition of holding motorcades prior to each and every national team game to help in mobilising supporters about the upcoming game and try as much as possible to attract supporters back to the stadium," he said.  He revealed that for the past four or five games, there were no motorcades, hence the poor attendance at the matches.

He said that they want to increase the routes to cover places like Mogoditshane and start earlier than as usual to build the momentum. He also emphasised the need to ensure that security is provided at every game, adding that this will be done with the help of other branches, national executive committee, security officers and the Botswana Police Service. "We will also liaise with the Zebras' security officials to ensure that indiscipline and any other form of unruly behaviour is curbed during the national team games," he added. But he indicated that so far the security at the games has been good.
"We have to extend our network to other security members that include the BFA security and the Botswana Police force so that they know we are sharing the same objectives," he added.
