Netball team gets psychological help for Zone VI event

The national netball team left for Durban, South Africa yesterday to take part in the Zone VI championships this weekend.

The coach Seipei Gaelesiwe said before departure that the players were prepared psychological for the even because it has been realised they lack mental strength to improve their performance at the competition. She explained that their aim is to improve their international ranking.

She said they want to better the third place finish achieved in previous games. She said the players have been together for sometime and this should work in their favour. The only problem is that some players did not get sufficient time to train with the rest of the team due to work commitments. Gaelesiwe said finishing second in the Singapore Five Nations last year is a motivation for the players ahead of the Zone VI competition. The coach said they once again expect tough competition from Malawi. She dismissed worries that her team is ageing with most of the players in their 30s. She said people should look at the players' ability. Gaelesiwe said they could not include some new players in the squad as most of them are students preparing for their end of year exams.
