NDB Boss Challenges BCF To Spread Chess

The acting chief executive officer of the National Development Bank (NDB), Tshekiso Monyatsi has challenged the Botswana Chess Federation (BCF) to work hard to increase its membership. He expressed disappointment that the federation has only 19 affiliates despite the fact that chess is played by a number of schools.

Monyatsi said the recent visit of the chess world champion Viswanathan Anand should be a motivation to the federation to strive to take the game to a higher level.

He said Anand made a commitment to help Botswana and NDB as a supporter of chess is watching the progress of the relationship with keen interest. He added that chess has potential to grow to greater heights in Botswana especially because it has a large pool of players in schools.
