Nata has organised a youth football tournament for Zebras' captain, Mompati Thuma on Saturday in Nata. The tournament will celebrate his achievements, as well as encourage the youth to follow in his footsteps. Thuma became the first Zebras skipper to lead the team to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a remarkable run in the 2012 campaign; the Nata community is still basking in the feat.

Tournament organiser, Seloma Tiro, said eight villages including Gweta, Zoroga, Mosetse, Sowa, Dukwi, Manxotae, Sepako and Tsokotshwa will battle it out for honours tomorrow. The teams will start off with a penalty knockout to determine the two finalists at the Nata Council Ground. The winning two teams after the shootouts will play a final and the winner is set to pocket P3, 000, while the runner up will walk away with P1, 000.The BDF XI star, Thuma and national team coach Stanley Tshosane will grace the event.

"I'm honoured to see my community appreciate me in this way, especially since this is the first time a community organises such a tournament for a player. It's so humbling," Thuma told Mmegi Sport. Thuma is convinced more talent can be discovered in Nata. The organisers are also eager to use the tournament as a platform for spreading the HIV/AIDS message to the youth."We want to get youngsters to take sport seriously and reach Thuma's level. We also want to use that platform to spread the HIV/AIDS message," Tiro said.
