Motsepe shines against Gunners

Patrick Motsepe scored what may eventually be the goal of the tournament to help BDF XI come from a goal down to toss out Extension Gunners from the Coca-Cola Cup in Molepolole on Sunday.

The former Mochudi Centre Chiefs' midfielder curled a beautiful strike early in the second half to give his team the lead and cap a good performance, which earned him 'Man of the Match' award.  The goal shocked Gunners' supporters who had thought their team would hold on until the final whistle and perhaps force a post-match penalty shoot-out.

Gunners took the lead five minutes into the game after Monametsi 'Sunday' Kelebale fired past Khalid Niyonzima in the BDF XI goal. After the goal, Mapantsula failed to keep their opponents at bay and it was no surprise when Mokgathi Mokgathi who was playing on the right side of the midfield for most of the match equalised. The striker took advantage of Gunners' casual defending to head home from close range. But it was Motsepe's goal, which provided the high point of the match and effectively dashed Gunners hopes of reaching the semis. Former Prisons XI striker, Thatayotlhe Gaokgorwe came in as a second half substitute and took less than three minutes to punish Gunners'. After coming on for Peter Ngwenya, Gaokgorwe caught the Gunners' defence napping and easily tipped the ball past goalkeeper Ntungamile Tshoganetso to confirm Mapantsula's exit from the lucrative competition.
