Motor Centre finals moved to March

The 2008 Motor Centre netball league finals have been postponed from next month to March. The finals failed to take place last year because of the national team assignments.

Botswana Netball Association (BONA) spokesperson, Bakwena Oitsile said some clubs with players in the national team had asked for the league to be stopped for a while in November. This was meant to allow the national Under-20 team to participate in the Zone VI games in South Africa. "We could not just continue with the league, as that would have been unfair on other teams," Oitsile said. He added that the finals could still not be held after the Zone VI games because of the Choppies tournament. He said there is no cause for alarm because the netball year ends in March. Eight teams are expected to take part in the finals.

Oitsile said the amendment of the BONA constitution that started in 2006 is still going on. The constitution review took long because some stakeholders could not be located.
