Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) president Sesupo Mosweu has said that he is going to defend his seat in elections next month. However, Mmegi Sport Correspondent, Mosah Mokganedi writes that the general view in the volleyball fraternity is that he has failed the sport and he should step down.

Tshepo Serwe of Mafolofolo volleyball club believes Sesupo Mosweus time as BVF president is up. She said volleyball still lags behind in many respects and the current BVF office has failed to rectify the situation. She stated that the sport has lost taste and no longer pulls crowds. She said that volleyball tournaments or games are always poorly organised. Serwe said that not all BVF officials are non-performers. She said some officials should be retained to guide the newly elected ones.

But one BDF VI player who preferred anonymity for fear of victimisation said the whole committee should be dissolved. He said since Mosweu and his committee came to office, volleyball has lost direction and all sponsors. He accused Mosweu of transferring the JB Sports sponsorship from the mens league to womens league to favour his club Mafolofolo.
He is a former Mafolofolo player, he transferred the sponsorship knowing that it will be won by his club because it is currently doing well, he said. The player has appealed to former BVF president, Mokgethi Magapa to come to the rescue of the sport. He said the situation is so bad that the national team is selected based on history and not current performance since there are no competitions.
