Amantle Montsho has broken yet another record becoming the first woman in a long time to win the Sports Person of the Year Award at a glamorous Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) awards ceremony at the GICC on Saturday night.

Montsho, who was rated the fastest women in the world after breaking the record at the Africa Senior Championships last year, once again won the Sportswomen of the Year award beating Tsholofelo Retshabile of volleyball and Nshingi Mosalagae of karate.

It was clear that the battle was between Montsho and Khumiso Ikgopoleng of Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) but Montsho had an upper hand having made it to the last stage of the 400m at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. In other categories, the Youth Commonwealth silver medallist Daniel Lagamang of athletics beat Lentswe Zwinila of boxing and Seabe Ebineng of swimming.
