Moncho roots for women

The outgoing Botswana Netball Association (BONA) president, Nelson Moncho, has encouraged affiliates to vote women in the executive committee in elections billed for Saturday. Moncho said it is time that women are elected to the BONA office to see what they would do as they always criticise men for dominating 'their sport'.

The veteran netball chief believes women can perform though they have a tendency of fighting each other. He asserted that women do not support each other and that is why they never vote for each other. "Basadi kana ba tletse tshele (women are jealous)," he said. Moncho said women would rather vote for a man they do not know than a woman they know.

He slammed those criticising men involved in netball saying there is nothing wrong with their presence so long as they (men)deliver. He said everybody has a right to stand for any position and satisfy their interests. Moncho said men have done a lot to encourage women to take positions of responsibility but always the women decline.
