It was an entertaining game between the two giants who showed no respect for each other, attacking vigorously when ever the chances arose. While Chiefs mastered with their short passing game when they came at their opponents, GU relied on quick counter attacks with veteran middle- field magician Steven Maposa engineering most of their attacks. Despite the many end to end mouth watering attacks from the first whistle, the fans had to wait until the 36th minute when Gaopatwe Seosenyeng's free kick was met with Ronald Chikomo, who rose above the Chiefs defence to head home for the opening goal.
Chiefs shifted to a higher gear trying to level the score before the break and the spectators were treated to a good brand of attacking football by both sides, as GU also looked determined to increase their lead.Just minute before referee Tirelo Mositwane called for the half time break, Chiefs defence found themselves flapping as Maposa weaved his magic through before going for a bicycle kick which goal keeper Mompoloki Sephekolo fisted for a corner kick, but GU were not resourceful to make it count. Right from the break, GU continued with their fire and Chikomo fluffed what could have sealed a comfortable lead for the Reds just on the 46th minute after receiving good service from Maposa.
